Microsoft says they are committed to the original Xbox well into 2006
Don't count out the original Xbox just yet. Kotaku recently suggested that Microsoft have ceased production on the Xbox. An anonymous retail source told the popular video game blog that this week was the final week of manufacturing for the console.
However, GameDaily Biz has quoted Microsoft denying the rumor, and supporting the Xbox will into 2006.
"Our plans for the original Xbox platform remain unchanged from what we discussed last year at E3. We expect to continue to sell Xbox consoles well into 2006," a Microsoft spokesperson told the news site.
Considering there is still a buck or two to be made from the Xbox, the continued production is no real surprise. Especially considering the lack of Xbox 360's on the market. Most likely, when the other two major next gen system, the Nintendo Revolution and PS3, Microsoft will finally stop production.
